The Maple Road Market is a volunteer led independent local market that was originally started in 1921. The original concept of the market was to aid those coming back from the War with a place to work and to buy produce for their families during a time of social hardship and great sacrifice after the First World War. The Maple Road Market was then a notable hub of social commerce all the way up to the beginning of 2010 when sadly, with the increase in supermarket popularity, the market slowly become redundant.
